How to change a clutch on a 92 3000gt vr4?

, ,|||drive fast|||Pull engine and trans assembly, separate them and replace the clutch..

or

Go to a clutch specialist as they have the special tools to do it without pulling the engine out, plus they arent making any money if they cant get it done in 2 hours...about $250.

Er, Ford Mondeo question...anyone ever changed a clutch on one of these WITHOUT taking the engine out???

Seems like ford have made it a ridiculously tricky and time consuming job to drop the clutch and put a new in, anyone have any experience of this? Costs? Toptips? Cheers in advance!|||was to big a job for me I had to get mine done in a garage, it cost just over £600.

the car was only worth £800 but unfortunatly I had it on HP so had no choice.|||You must drop the complete subframe before the gearbox comes out. It%26#039;s pretty straight forward once you get your head round it.

Get your ex to do it he must owe you one.|||This apparently was one of the few draw backs on the Mondeo that you did have to drop the engine to do the clutch - ot at least so I was always led to believe.|||No just drop the drive shaft and it will ease out and fix replacement in|||your right it is tricky but alas engine and sub frame has to be (not completely) removed but lowered enough to separate g/box .... fords Hmm

Mr clutch does a good cheapish job

PS don%26#039;t forget locating pins for sub frame|||Any other way is extreemly arkward , dont try it unless you have access to lifting gear and a hoist you can drop one side and lift box out ,But it does put a strain on the exuast and other fixtures . (not recomended.) but that is as bad as dropping the whole sub frame|||Going by experience of some mondeos I helped with the clutch whilst I was on work placement whilst at college studying motor vehicle engineering the quickest way t do a mondeo clutch is to take the exhaust off so it clears the sub frame, remove the lower suspension ball joints from the front hubs, remove the drive shafts support the engine from above remove the starter motor spedo cable clutch cable the upper bell housing bolts then under neath remove some engine/gearbox support brackets and remove the sub frame support the gearbox from underneath with a transmission jack remove the lower bell housing bolts and extract the gearbox and you can then remove the clutch refitting is reverse of removal

How do you change a clutch on a toyota yaris?

toyota yaris|||If you are asking how to change a clutch, it%26#039;s probaly best you don%26#039;t get involved in that job. It%26#039;s a fairly big job and you should have a professial do it. Have you ever dropped a transmission on a front wheel drive before? you could seriously hurt yourself or at the least cost yourself a lot more money then you actually have to pay.|||don%26#039;t bother doing it urself have a shop or dealer do it. if the dealer does it, it will come with at least 1yr warranty on parts and labor.|||by taking it to Toyota dealership|||Take it to a garage and tell the mechanic you need a new clutch.|||If you have never replaced a clutch in a front wheel drive vehicle, this is not the vehicle to start with. Yaris is only been out 1 1/2 years and there is probably no manual available for it yet. You should just take it to your nearest Toyota dealership and let them fix it for you.|||its alot of work and you better buy a chiltons manual and is to much to explain here|||It%26#039;s easy, drop the gearbox, unbolt the clutch and stick the new one in it%26#039;s place! If your lucky you%26#039;ll have loads of spares left at the end as well.

Of course the most cost effective option would be to take it to a decent mechanic and ask him/her to do the job for you. It will take a tenth of the time, and should have some sort of guarantee

Anyone know how to change a clutch cable in an 89 twinwheel transit PLEASE?

look its easy first check were the transmission is located if its on the left of the engine or right or under the gear stick .

second locate the cable on the clutch pedal get helper and tell him to press the clutch pedal and look for movement to locate the clutch cable.once you have located it take it off by pressing the clutch pedal down and with pair of pliers uncliping it/unbolt it from the transmission end.(always remember the cables route mark it if you need to)theres a cerclip at the pedal stopping the cable to come off take that off and the cable will slide off.

refitting it start feed the cable to the pedal and attach it to the pedal and secure it with the clip then feed the cable to the transmission garbing the end of cable with pair of pliers and pulling it until its in its position.|||your best bet is to try to find a repair manual or contact the manufacturer|||I%26#039;ve never tried on a twin wheel but on a 89 single wheel...

From underneath first undo the cable from the Gearbox end

Depending which gearbox is fitted it%26#039;s either a adjuster that needs to be slackened and taken of or you can wedge something behind the arm and jemmy it off..That%26#039;s the easy part, When the cable is disconnected from the Gearbox you need to realease it from the pedal end take care to have the drivers side footwell clean because there is a clip which attaches the cable to pedal and if you loose that you will have to go to a car spares shop or a breakers yard.

Once the cable is disconnected you need to go in the engine bay and take the whole cable from the bulkhead then it should be free to fall to the floor.... refitting is a reversal of removal........................Good Luck

Anybody every changed a clutch on a mondao?

i heard you have to take out the enging is that true?|||The engine has to be lifted to draw the gearbox mounting bolts which are fitted before the engine.

So in a nutshell, yes.

We source out jobs like this to garages that specialise in doing certain makes of car.|||the car needs to be on a ramp. the hole engine and box has to be dropped down in a cage.before you can even start to strip the clutch out.one hell of anight mere job.|||There is two ways of doing it, first remove the engine from the engine bay. Second method is to jack the car up, drop the front sub frame and then lower the engine and gear box out under the car.

Ja.|||apparently not! according to my husband who deals with clutches 6 days a week ;)|||No , there%26#039;s a special frame that fit%26#039;s between the inner wings to support the engine and box while the subfame is lowered to gain access to the gear box....|||If you don%26#039;t have access to a hoist or ramps then it may be easier to pull the engine. But no you don%26#039;t have to. It Will be fiddly though and most shops will do the job at a reasonable cost.

I%26#039;d take it to the dealer not so much to just replace the clutch cable but to see if something else is wrong -- sounds like it failed pretty quickly.|||TAKE THE TRANS COVER OFF THE RIGHT SIDE. Ask a wrecking yard especially one that deals in these cars.

But a Nissan Master Technician can do it for 4.5 hours add 1.0 hour for sending out the flywheel for resurfacing. Also there are many things to do while the gear box is out. (list) rubber shifter mount, transmission mount, motor mounts, rubber clutch lever boot, shifter bushings, and front input shaft seal and gasket and tail housing seals. Also any gear switches or spedo drive that are leaking. Better make sure the U joints on the drive shaft are ok and change the (non hyploid) GL-4 gear oil in the gear box now

How hard would it be to change a clutch pad myself?

Ive changed brake pad%26#039;s and roaters before, how much more difficult would the clutch pad be?|||Replacing a clutch is a big job but one definitely worth doing if you want to learn. I%26#039;d recommend doing it but like Rick said, if you%26#039;ve never done it then it would be good to have someone there with you who has had experience. It%26#039;s not necessarily a hard job; it just takes a while. Give it a shot though. What%26#039;s the worst that could happen?|||I could be said the clutch job is no more diffciult than the brake job--when you get to it. That%26#039;s the trouble. First you must seperate the transmission from the engine, first disengaging the balljoints and other parts. Then the transmission must be lowered. Afterwards, the tramsission must be raised and aligned and brought together and everything put back together. It%26#039;s a whole lot more work than a brake job--and you won%26#039;t be sitting outside on a milk crate the whole time either!|||Considerable. To replace the clutch in most cars, you have to drop the transmission %26amp; get it out of the way. If you have a friend who has done this before, it would be worth a six-pack to get him to help, so you could learn. There are also specialized tools needs, like a input shaft stub tool. Maybe help your friend do his clutch, as a learning experience. It can be done on a garage floor, but you gotta know what you%26#039;re doing....|||if your talking about the clutch disc then your getting into a lot of work. it,s nothing like changing the brake pads and rotors. changing the clutch you have your work cut out for you and also you better know what your doing. for example you have to make sure the clutch disc is,nt in backwards.|||If it%26#039;s front wheel drive leave it to the experts. Brakes are child%26#039;s play compared to a clutch.|||By %26quot;clutch pad%26quot;, do you mean peddle? If so it isn%26#039;t as hard as everyone is saying.|||a bunch more need to come apart

How hard is it to change a clutch on a 2WD 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck? How much would it cost?

to a mechanic a clutch job on any truck 2wd is gravy work we love those the clutch kit can run anywhere from 100 to 200 i would go to local toyota dealer as they will probably have it in stock and ur getting the best quality of part how ever 97 would kinda have a few gm influences as toyota and gm have been friends since 92 when GEO came around so u could go with an AC delco clutch too neways its simple if u know what ur doing no u dont need a come along its not a semi support the front of the vehicle by jack stand as high as u can go. ull need all the room u can get next drop the drive shaft watch for gear lube out of the output shaft of the tranny with the truck at an angle u will loose alittle the motor is supported from the side dont worry about it next remove any crossmembers under the tranny out of the way with the tranny at an angle remove wiring harness speed sensor wires ect. then go inside the truck remove shift lever the remove tranny bolts from tranny support tranny with a jack and pull and drop tranny then R and R clutch throw out bearing and pilot bushing installation is reverse of removal. the pilot bushing is trick use a socket and some axel grease stuff the axel grease in the pilot bushing hole in the back of the crank using ur finger make sure u fill the socket with grease put an extension in the socket make sure socket fits snug in pilot bushing hole then with a hammer hit the extension as principles of hydraulics cant compress a fluid will force the pilot bushing out may have to hit and refill several times to make sure there is no air between the crank and pilot bushing u want that space full of grease and u do not want grease to come out between the socket and the bushing hole make sure its as tight as it can be or just use slide hammer and the right adapter. also make sure u put grease around the input shaft of tranny before install this will make them slide together easier and make sure u use the alignment tool to align cluch disc to crank hope this helps|||Not hard if you have a lift and a trans jack . If not a regular jack Two jack stands a pair of comalongs under the trans .|||you have to take the drive shaft out ,drop the transmission out and support the engine also you might need the flywheel to be machined depending on the wear ,if your looking for part take a look at this site it is pretty good for nos parts http://ww1.autopartauctions.com/

How do you change a clutch cable for an aprilia rs 125?

do you need to take the whole engine apart just to change a cable?|||No,wind off the adjuster on the lever that you pull. Then pull the nipple and cable out.Loosen the adjuster at the engine and do the same(it may be a good idea to photograph exactly where the cable feeds down).Once you have disconnected at both ends, you can now feed the whole cable out.Refitting is the reverse, but make sure it doesn%26#039;t snag or kink anywhere and the bars turn freely without affecting operation of the clutch.Once fitted you should adjust to give 2-4mm free play on the lever.

How do I change a clutch in my toyota pickup?

Its a 1989 toyota 4x4 with a 22re 4 cylinder engine. Help!|||First I would suggest getting a manual for the truck. It will have a good write up on this but above all it will have the torque specs you will need for the bolts during re-assembly. Start by chocking the wheels, setting the e-brake and un-hooking the battery. Next start with the easy stuff, remove the shift boot from the shifters and remove the shifters. Remove the starter, driveshafts, speedo cable, and any wires that might be connected to the tranny. If you have a hydralic clutch you will need to remove or disconnect the lines from it as well. Hopefully with the 22re your exhaust does not get in the way... you shouldn%26#039;t have to remove it to get the tranny out. The tranny and t-case together weigh about 250 lbs. I would recomend a good transmission jack, if that%26#039;s not a possibility you can use a regular floor jack but you will need an extra friend to help you usually if you don%26#039;t have the tranny jack. Go ahead and remove the bolts that hold the transmission and engine together. There are usually a couple at the top that are hard to get to from underneath. You may have to get them from the top. Remove the bolts in the transmission mount at the crossmember and jack up the back of the tranny. Now you can remove the crossmember. Then let the tranny back down a little and it should slide right out... usually with a little persuasion. Now you can remove the pressure plate from the flywheel. The %26quot;clutch%26quot; is between the flywheel and pressure plate. Remove them and the flywheel. I would take the flywheel somewhere and have it re-surfaced, just ask at the parts house where you get your parts and they can tell you where to get it done... they may do it. While your having that done take the time to replace the rear-seal in your engine and any seals that you can in the tranny while you have it out. Once you have that done and the flywheel back you need to replace the bearing in the center of the flywheel and grease it (this is a different bearing than the throw-out bearing that operates your clutch)... then bolt it back up and torque to spec. Now you can put the new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing in. Be sure to use the clutch alignment tool that comes with your clutch/pressure plate. It will look like the end of the input shaft on your tranny, and if it didn%26#039;t come with the clutch/pressure plate then you can buy it seperately. Torque all of that to spec and you can start putting everything back together.

I would also suggest checking your clutch slave cylinder. If it%26#039;s in the tranny behind the throw-out bearing than I would change it anyway since you already have the tranny out.

I can do it on my full size bronco in about 5 hours not counting the time it takes to get the fly-wheel re-surfaced. Usually about 2-3 hours to get everything apart and 2-3 hours to put it back together.

Good Luck!|||2 ideas:

1: buy an original Toyota shop manual

2: buy a chilton manual for the toyota.

good luck. If you have some mechanical ability, some decent tools and some time you should be able to undertake this project.|||You take it to a shop.|||its not hard but you will need a trans jack or to big Buddy%26#039;s trans is heavy , i would recommend a manual , but like i said trans is heavy and you must remove it so be careful. saving a few dollars is not worth getting smashed

How to change a clutch on a 4x4 Dodge power ram 250?

I have done many things with cars and trucks most of it body work. Most of the things i have done were simple like a intake manifold and carb for my mustang, plugs \ wires, the hardest thing was a transmissionn on a taurus. But the truck is an 88 btw any tips or pointers?? thanks|||you dont you take it to the junkyard and buy ford f250 turbo desiel|||This is a big task on a 4x4. Both driveshafts need to be marked for location and removed. This means the wheels and tires need to be chocked. The nice thing is there is room to work with out a lift. The transfer case sits on the crossmember and is bolted to the rear of the trans. Using a block of wood and a floor jack positioned under the transmission will support the weight. The trans. should be able to seperate from the bell housing and the crossmember unbolt from the frame and the hole unit can be slid back about 4 inches. A couple C clamps positioned at the crossmember, the floor jack, and even a jack stand will keep this stationary so the pressure plate, flywheel, and disc can be removed. Doing it this way requires at least 2 people, please don%26#039;t attempt this by yourself. If you are, a different method is needed.

I would recommend having the flywheel resurfaced or replaced, this will provide the best wear and life of the clutch. Most auto parts stores offer the clutch disc by itself or a clutch kit. The clutch kit has the disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and an alignment tool. Go with the kit, it will save a lot of head aches later. Make sure to use brake parts cleaner on the pressure plate and flywheel prior to assembling the cluch disc. This will remove any dirty and grease from the mating surfaces.

If I remember correctly this job books out at around 14 hours. Of course they expect you to disassemble the transfer case from the transmission. This saves about 3 hours. When using a jack stand, do not place it on the transmission input shaft, this could damage the inner bearing. Also replace the pilot bushing or rearing in the rear of the crankshaft.

The shifters will need to be removed, both the trans. and the transfer.

A lot of work, but it can be done. Hope this helps. Christopher|||if its a 4 wheel drive its actually easier to pull the engine out than to try and pull the transmission and transfer case out ,unless you own a transmission jack,i have pulled more engines than transmissions to replace clutches because its easier and quicker, the only problem you have with doing it like this is it takes two people to do it and their real hard to line back up sometimes, but it still takes less time than removing the drive shafts and all the related parts to the 4 wheel drive, good luck.|||Sometimes it%26#039;s easier to pull the engine to replace clutch. Just a thought.

One of the ways i have done clutches in the past is to use a strap through the shifter hole in the floor board. Just remember to remove any part of the console the strap could damage.|||I agree that it should be raised up on ramps to save your back and arms in the process. A jack with blocks will help with the tranny. If its your first time, it will be interesting, just take ur time.|||I have done clutches before without a lift, jack the car up and use jackstands.... it wont be that bad, and yes use a jack to help lower the transmission. The most difficult part is getting the trans back up in there and aligned, buy that green plastic spline tool when bolting the pressure plate back to the flywheel.

How do you change a clutch in a 1978 ford bronco with a 351M engine ?

I am asking how to do this if you think taking it to a shop is your Answer please do not reply.|||If I remember correctly you%26#039;ll have to remove cross member thats under the transmission and tranfer case. You%26#039;ll have to unhook the drive shafts, linkages and remove the transmission and transfer case, You%26#039;ll need to resurface flywheel and replace clutch assembly.|||If you have never done this, please get a manual and study the steps. Basically you will:

Support the vehicle on jack stands or a lift

Support the transmission while you remove driveshaft and crossmember

Remove shifter from inside the car

remove transmission

Remove bellhousing from engine

remove pressure plate and clutch disc.

reverse all this to reinstall.

Put in new throwout bearing while doing this.

Changing a clutch on a 250 class motorcross bike?

if it matters, the bike is a %26#039;98 CR 250. The original clutch is in the bike and has never been inspected; I ride trails and dunes and am one of those guys who use the clutch only for 1st gear. The symptom I am seeing is just the clutch slipping, other than that no problems with the bike. I am wondering what parts I need to change this clutch. I have changed clutches in a streetbike w/ a manual before w/ no problems. I would like to go to a parts counter and order what is commonly needed to change it; should I buy any bearings, metal clutch plates, clutch basket or am I probably ok w/ just the friction plates? any special tools needed? manual? I have sockets, common sense, torque wrench and other common tools.|||I would buy a full clutch kit. Comes with the pads and metal rings. Make sure you soak them in oil for 30minutes before putting them in. Also you may have to buy a new clutch basket. It is best to pull the basket out first and rub you fingers in the area where the plates ride. If there are any grooves you might be able to file them down or you%26#039;ll have to buy a new basket. If you don%26#039;t you will have gears sticking on you down the line. For the clutch kit I use Dirt Diggers and they have not given me any problems.

Put the cable in the handlebar side first, it%26#039;s just a slip in end with a metal disc, and the cable routes thru the slit in the lever. Run the cable to the casing side, and you%26#039;ll see the lever where the other side attaches. Use a flat head screwdriver to push the lever forward by hand, and slip the cable in the slot on the lever. When you let go of the lever, the slack will tighten up on the cable. Be sure you route the whole cable as the old one was, to insure theres no obsrtuctions, or pinching of the cable along the way. Adjust the cable at the bottom to take out any initial slack if needed, and do the final adjustments at the clutch lever adjuster.|||np....glad to help! ride safe

How much does it cost to change a clutch?

so my clutch is beginning to slip, every once in a while. and i just wanted to know how much it would run to get this replaced? and im pretty sure its not a hydraulic clutch. %26#039;89 bmw 325i.|||About $250.00-$400.00 if done @ a shop, (SHOP AROUND) I think all Clutches are hydraulic...

If you did the work you%26#039;ll save about half if not more- rear wheel drive cars may be easier but it is still a lot of work...

A friend recently replaced his %26quot;front wheel drive%26quot; 1996 Pontiac Sunfire... and it took him about TWO days to get it all done, he mentioned he will never do another CLUTCH again.

How do you change a Clutch Cable on a 74 Honda CB 450 DOHC?

I was riding my cb 450 this weekend and when i pulled in the clutch I could feel a clicking. Then it seems the clutch cable snapped. The clutch handle would not spring back. Any advice or reference websites anyone can suggest on how to replace? Is it an easy fix or should I take it into the shop? Any advice would be great, Thanks.|||A CB 450 was my first bike, (loooong ago!).

That%26#039;s a good old bike.

You will need to remove the tank.

Start at the hand-lever. Disconnect the old cable.

There%26#039;s a %26#039;puck%26#039; on the cable end that fits the handle.

You must turn the cable to get it out of the slot.

(Just look carefully, you%26#039;ll see how.)

turn the handle adjuster all the way in leaving max. clearance.

Install the end of the new cable.

then work down the old cable, removing it and putting the

new one in its place until you get down to the engine case.

You will have to remove the left case cover.

(An impact driver is suggested for those phillips head bolts.

they WILL be frozen in place, and a screw driver will

likely strip the heads.)

Loosen the clutch adjuster to give you maximum play,

(screw the collar all the way in), and remove the old cable.

If you watch how it comes off it%26#039;s easy to get the new one on.

There%26#039;s a slotted box fitting that the %26#039;puck%26#039; fits into.

Reinstall the side case cover, (it%26#039;s a good idea to oil

the threads of those bolts before inserting them so that

they stick less next time), and adjust the clutch play

at the side cover, (that slotted round plug), by loosening

the holding bolt, turning the plug untill you%26#039;ve got

tension, and retightening the bolt.

You should be done.

You can fine tune the tension with the lever

adjuster.|||Go to shop buy cable, they will tell you in 3 minutes or less how to change and adjust, its real real easy.

How to change a clutch in a 1992 prelude?

need to change clutch on a 192 prelude wana do it my self anyone tell me how?|||Replacing the clutch on a front wheel drive vehicle is much more difficult then you would think. Definitely get a Chilton%26#039;s manual and follow it step by step. Along with the complete meteric tool set mentioned earlier make sur you have plenty of extensions.

I personally find it easier to pull the engine and transmission together, change the clutch on the floor and reinstall the egine/trans. If you haven%26#039;t done a clutch before front or rear wheel drive, then this may be one that you want to allow a shop to do.

If you do choose to go ahead yourself use a Chilton%26#039;s, the steps are much too involved to describe.

Good Luck|||your best bet is get a chilton repair manual for your vehicle%26#039;s year make and model and follow the directions VERY carefully. its an involved process to remove and replace the clutch. first thing you need to do is get the vehicle onto jack stands, remove the wheels, front drive shafts, with a transmission jack or (small floor jack), under the transmission, separate the transmission from the motor. the clutch sits inside the bell housing that attaches the motor to the transmission. and you might want to think about getting a full set of metric end wrenches, metric sockets, a few screw drivers,( flat head and phillips heads) and a few pliers (regular and needle nose), a pry bar and a good hammer because your gonna need them, or you can take it to a shop, someone you trust and let them do it.|||Hey, that%26#039;s my car! you bought it. i just changed the clutch two years ago. To tell you step-by-step is impossible here. Get a Chilton%26#039;s or Haynes repair manual and follow instructions carefully. you should be ok if you%26#039;re a mechanically inclined person. don%26#039;t forget to get yourself a clutch alignment tool. you must align the clutch.

How hard is it to change a clutch in a 94 Mustang?

I have a 94 mustang, and the clutch is showing sings on going out. so I bought a new one. and decided to put it in myself. I bought the Repair Manual for my car. and it look like i could do it. but i just wanted a opinion on how hard or complicated it is for someone who has never done it before.|||You at least need a good set of jack stands but doing it while laying on your back isn%26#039;t real easy. It%26#039;s much easier if you have a lift and a transmission jack. Since the transmission provides the engines rear support, and the transmission has to come out, you%26#039;ll have to have a way to support the rear of the engine when you remove the transmission and bell housing. Don%26#039;t just replace the clutch, also replace the throw out and pilot bearings or you%26#039;ll be back in there in a short time doing it again. You%26#039;ll also need a clutch alignment tool which can be purchased for a few bucks at any auto parts store. It isn%26#039;t a terribly hard job but, you need the proper tools, stands, fixtures and knowledge.|||Its not complicated, just difficult to do without putting the car up in the air (over your head). To replace the clutch, you need to remove the transmission bell housing. Its heavy and usually very difficult to get the top bolts in and out. Good luck!|||It%26#039;s a pretty big job. If you%26#039;ve never had a trans out before I suggest you bring along someone who has. There are quite a few safety concerns both during and after the repair.

Whats the easiest way to change a clutch on my 1985 Subaru GL hatchback?

im changing the clutch on my 85 and i was wondering if there was a diagram on the internet that could show me how because the book says i have to pull the engine to do it, is there an easier way or is a there a diagram you could show me, thanks|||I just did the clutch on my subaru a couple weeks ago. You do NOT need to pull the engine. Unhook the trans from the linkages, wires, driveshaft, and bellhousing bolts. You do not need pull the front axles, as you just need to seperate the engine and trans far enough to get the clutch and flywheel out. (make sure you buy a new flywheel or get your old flywheel resurfaced). Replace the clutch and reinstall. Do not let the trans hang on the clutch when putting it back in, this will warp the clutch plate. I was able to hold the trans up with the front axles and trans crossmember mount.

How do you change a clutch in a 1982 toyota supra?

Like dropping the transmission and taking out and replacing the clutch with a new one.|||First off, spend the money for a Haynes manual $22 so you will have all the torque specs and know where to and where not to apply lubrication for moving parts, and how to center the clutch disc so you can get the trans to pop back in place. Also plan to have your flywheel machined flat (machine shop) to reduce the chances of premature wear and clutch shudder.|||%26quot;Like dropping the transmission and taking out and replacing the clutch with a new one.%26quot;

undo the bolts holding them together|||Hit it with a BFH right where they connect. That might do it.|||once the bolts are out , youve gotta pull and wiggle ,itll come off eventually|||Make double sure there isn%26#039;t a bolt left holding it together or you could break the transmition case.Sometimes theres corrosion around the alignment pins, some wd 40 helps and some pry bars.|||dude check the bolt near the oil filter|||honda hides bolts well.be very sure you got all of them.trying to beat or pry on it will get you a two piece bellhousing, not good.

Im changing a clutch in a 94 sentra 1.6 L fwd.?

how do i seperate the bell housing from the engine to get to the clutch.|||You%26#039;ll need to remove the bolts, along with the drive axles, starter, shift linkage, mounts, and speedo cable. Also disconnect the reverse light wiring. You are taking the transmission out of the car to install the clutch, no way around it.

Is changing a clutch hard for a 96 Toyota Tercel?

Not hard just time consuming, and if you dont work on cars I wouldnt recommend it although the clutch disk itself is less than $100 if you did it yourself|||yes .450 dollars at tranny place..and worth it.|||yes and costly. clutch and pressure plate

Does changing a clutch plate on a ford mondeo, involve removing the engine and gear box?

because the clutch mounts to the back of the engine between the engine and the transmission there%26#039;s no other way,to remove them, and that%26#039;s for any car made the transmission has to come out on anything to change a clutch, good luck.

Changing a clutch on a volkswagen kombi?

i might try to change the clutch on my volkswagen kombi van 1994. any good suggestions?|||It is best to have 2 jacks, one to support the engine, and one for the transaxle.

They sell a cheap scissors tranny jack at Harbor Freight for under $50.

Change the throwout bearing as well, and grease the rod it so it does not bind.

Sort of a common problem.

Buy one of those plastic clutch position jigs as well. Very handy, and saves a lot of time when you are trying to put it bad together and it does not line up. The jig helps put the friction disk in the right alignment as the pressure plate is bolted down.

Put plastic bags over the CV joints when they are unbolted, to keep dir out.

Changing a clutch on a vauxhall corsa?

I need to change the clutch in my wifes vauxhall corsa it is a 51 plate ( uk registered ) 1200 cc 4 cylinder petrol version and is hydraulicly operated, is there anything special i need to know and are they easy to replace ?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.|||There`s nothing special about it,you just have to remove the slave cylinder,(if it`s external),or clamp the flexy.and disconnect the pipe if the slave cylinder is internal and then bleed the hydraulics once the job is done.|||Best thing to do is get a manual.

To change the clutch you need to slide the gearbox to get to the clutch.

Not a beginners thing.|||If your a good mechanic it%26#039;s easy.

If your on yahoo answers asking how it%26#039;s done then best of luck mate.

Is Mr Clutch ok for changing a clutch or should I go else where?

I%26#039;ve heard bad things about Mr clutch as they are cheaper than a dealer, but could make a lot of mistakes changing a clutch, or is it better to go to an independent garage?

You pay peanuts you get monkeys working on your car?|||I%26#039;d go elsewhere. Better to go to a known/recommended back street (independent) garage.

My brother had told a friend of mine to get his clutch done at said place. My pals car broke down next day in fast lane of M1 in rush hour. AA towed it to MR clutch. AA man was so furious He went to speak with the mechanics. All workers were chinese, so he couldn%26#039;t give them a piece of his mind.

Mr Clutch did refund money and paid for new gear box.|||Mr Clutch centres operate as a franchise. A bit like most McDonalds %26quot;Restaurants%26quot; it is down to the owner and the staff at each one. Some will be great and some could be awful and everything in between

Changing a Clutch?

Hey, I have a 1993 Toyota Celica GT, and it%26#039;s got a worn out clutch, I know someone who works at LuK (they make clutches in ohio) and they can get me a stock like clutch for 80$, pretty good, but the only problem is, I dont know if I should have someone replace the clutch for me, or try to do it myself. Just wanted to know the difficulty rating you would give it, I know a little bit about cars, so I%26#039;m not completely dumb, lol. If you think its not too too hard, how do you do it, or do you know a specific place with specific instructions? thanks!!!!!|||trust me here and have it done by a professional, often times do-it yourselfers get into alot of trouble and the repair costs much more, find a mech that you trust and have them do it, if you needed your tonsils removed would you let your friend billy do it because he took biology in highschool,, get my point?|||I am not too familiar with the Celica vehicles, but if this just the run of the mill front wheel drive with a 5 speed, you shouldn%26#039;t hit many snags, it will take some time if you%26#039;re doing this on the ground without a lift. If I were you, I would go at this job with atleast one other person that knows what they are doing, simply because you will save a ton of time not pulling out things that do not need to be removed. If this vehicle is the all wheel drive edition, dont even bother, that transfer case may be an issue, and just take it to a shop.|||I changed the clutch in my vehicle and I%26#039;m just a weekend-mechanic.

As long as you get lubrication on the right points, and use a torque wrench to ensure all bolts are tightened to specs, you should be fine.

I%26#039;d make sure you look at a manual though. Some cars are more difficult than others, etc.|||If you aren%26#039;t comfortable taking your car apart, and confident you%26#039;ll get it back together again, get someone else to do it!

In either case, (front or rear wheel drive) the transmission must be separated form the engine, and it%26#039;s far easier for someone else to do it for you, except for the cost of labor.

If a car is rear-wheel drive, changing the clutch is worlds easier than front-wheel drive, but it is still no small task.

I remember that Celicas were rear-wheel drive. I don%26#039;t know if yours is or not. I%26#039;m going to assume it is.

If you or a friend has the proper tools, work facilities and equipment, it is a fairly straight forward task

If you are going to work on it on jack stands, it really helps to have a transmission jack for supporting the transmission during removal and installation.

You can bend the shaft on the front of a transmission if you let the weight of it hang on the shaft.

The hardest part is putting everything back together. Transmissions get really heavy after a while when you don%26#039;t use a jack, and are trying to line it up and put a bolt in it before your arms get too tired.|||does the price include the disk and clutch pressure plate?

fairly easy, make sure you have an alignment tool ($10.00 USD) to align the clutch disk to the flywheel
