Just changed a clutch and now have issues??

I just did the clutch in my 2001 Hyundai Accent, and it is not working correctly. I did everything correctly, according to the book, but am having a slight issue. When shifting from neutral to 1st or 2nd, the pedal has to be in a very specific spot, about an inch from the floor to go in. If its to the floor, it wont go into gear. Driving 1 through 5 is fine, but when I go to downshift, it has to be at a very low RPM or else it grinds. What could be wrong? Hydraulic system is good with no leaks, no noises or clutch smell, etc. Thanks!

are you sure you put the clutch disc in the right way around?

you could try bleeding the slave cylinder, but i don't think its your problem.

Did you change the release bearing as well? The release bearing %26quot;sometimes called a 'throw-out' bearing will cause the issue you are have .
check you slave cylender
I'm guessing that you did a complete clutch job , you did replace the pressure plate , clutch , throw-out bearing and the pilot bearing. I'm sure that it as a salve cylinder as well , it maybe that you just don't have all the air bleed out of the line, i had this problem where i throught i had all the air out of the line , but the more i drive it the better the clutch got , so maybe that your problem and the more you drive the better it gets.
